Open Weekend 2008 and Special Working Day
The open weekend has been announced for the 7th and 8th June 2008. Times and event details will be to follow. Any parties that are interested in contributing in any way please contact us via our contacts page.
Further to the news that we were vacating our "bottom shed", work has been progressing well but we require a final push. To do this we request the assistance of some normally non-working members to attend on Saturday 26th January 2008, to help us sort and move some of the final pieces of equipment still in place. Help of any kind is greatly appreciated. Please contact us via the contacts page.

Long Marston Site Tour Fully Booked and New Crane
The site tour for the 13th October is now fully booked. Hopefully we will be organising another tour in the near future. Anyone who missed out this time, sign up to the notify list on the main page to receive email updates of future events, or check back regularly.
In other news, our eagerly awaited crane arrived on Friday 14th September, courtesy of AGA. Special thanks to Keith Lewis of AGA Colnbrookdale, whose patience in the last 10 months has been greatly appreciated.
Now that we have the crane on site, we intend to give it a good steam cleaning, repaint, four new tyres and a general tidy up. Anyone that is interested in helping us with this project please contact us via the contacts page.

Long Marston Site Tours
Following discussion with Ruth Dunmore of MRL, agreement has been reached for organised tours for SBRS Members to tour the Long Marston site. The tour will be on foot and view locomotive and rolling stock currently stored within the old army camp.
The tour is restricted to SBRS Members only and will cost £10 per head, cash or cheque (made payable to SBRS Ltd). For safety reasons, groups will be limited to 25, but if demand is sufficient, a reserve list will be drawn up for a subsequent tour. It has also been agreed that, subject to availability, the two-car DMU set could be made available for Members to have a trip round the route approved for running.
Whilst photographs will be allowed, these must be for personal use only, and Members will be required to sign an undertaking prior to the commencement of the tour, that no photographs or images will be put into the public domain in any form whatsoever. I would also emphasise that, due to the position of much of the stored stock, the tour will be on foot and therefore participants must be able bodied.
The visit will start at 11:00am on 13 October 2007, at the main gate off the B4632, so if you are interested in participating, please contact Simon Barratt via surface mail (Laurel House, The Green, Tredington, Shipston On Stour, Warwickshire, CV36 4NJ), by email (sjbarratt@btinternet.com) or on 01608 661 996. Alternatively, contact James Troughton via the SBRS website, his email address (fantastic_jim@hotmail.com), or his mobile phone (07884 003 072). Please quote your Membership Number, and a telephone number or email address that we can use to contact you to confirm the arrangements.
This is a most unusual opportunity and we are very grateful to Ruth Dunmore for the offer.

A few new news items:
Firstly, it has been decided by the SBRS board that we no longer have the time or resources to restore the army ambulance coach we have on site to its former glory. If there are any parties interested in this vehicle, please contact us (details available on the contacts page) for further details. We will be happy to donate this vehicle to a good home free of charge.
After meeting with our landlords, it has been decided to give up tenancy of our "bottom" shed. We came to this decision because it wasn't really being used and it required substantial repairs. At the same meeting, we have successfully acquired the old North Gate gate house to be used as a ticket office, toilets and a sales room. With both the vacating of the old "bottom" shed and refurbishment of the North Gate, we intend to invite normally non-working members for a series of special 'weekend work parties'. Details of these dates will be sent out via the mailing list and put up on the news page nearer the time.
Last but not least, we are hoping to announce our next open day very very shortly. A window has been made for May, but we are looking short of drivers. If anyone can help please contact us via the contacts page.
